Service Learning Project

Manchester High School JROTC | Service Learning Spotlight

The Lancer Battalion is proud to share an exciting milestone in our commitment to leadership, service, and environmental responsibility — the construction of our very own greenhouse as part of this year’s Service Learning Project!

This project, entirely cadet-led from the planning stages to hands-on execution, has given our battalion the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our school and community. Under the guidance of our JROTC instructors, cadets worked together to design and begin building a fully functional greenhouse on school grounds.

Throughout the process, cadets have developed key leadership and teamwork skills, learned basic construction techniques, and deepened their understanding of sustainability and service. From laying the foundation to assembling the frame, every cadet had a role to play — and took pride in doing their part.

This project truly embodies the JROTC motto: “To Motivate Young People to be Better Citizens.” By combining hands-on learning with real-world application, our cadets are not only preparing for future careers but also leaving behind a legacy of growth—both literally and figuratively.

“We ride with pride, we strike with might, Lancer Battalion leads the fight”
